That time of the year is upon as again The Annual WCGMP
BBQ! This years venue is Hellyer Park in San Jose. There will
be lots of food and fun games for members, non-members and their
families. Last year, club members received a limited edition WCGMP
T-shirt, with the alternative logo. This year, the officers have
an even cooler gift in the works for club members in good standing.
Come join us on Saturday July 21st at Hellyer Park for some good
summer fun!
Car Show for Cancer Research in Katie Taylor's Memory
We pay tribute to Katie Taylor who passed away in July. She was
diagnosed with leukemia on Oct 10th 2006. Since then she had gone
through chemo and radiation therapy as well as a bone marrow transplant.
Her devoted boyfriend Chris Daniels (1SICV8) stood by her side with
positive support and love until the end. Mr and Mrs Nyce (Azrael
and Mrs. Azrael) and Sound of Speed Performance have put together
a Carshow in tribute to this brave young lady. A portion of the
money raised will be donated to Cancer Research in Katie's name.
There will be a B-B-Q, Prizes for the top 3 cars, and possible raffles
throughout the day. Come out and join in on the fun for part or
all of the day.
On August 4th after our
regular monthly meet our special event will be to take a cruise to
Sea Bright beach in Santa Cruz and have a bonfire party!
Enjoy the scenic road and take in the refreshing seabreeze as we roll
into the evening with laughter, smores and more! Bring your beach
blankets, lawns chairs, extra jacket or sweater and anything else
to help you relax comfortably on the beach.
Keep your eyes on our Club
Event's section in the forum for sign-up of the Grudge Match which
will be held on August 18th.
New exhaust system?, better flowing intake?, maybe you have a new
set of tires aching to grip the asphalt. Head out to the drag with
us in August and test your new modifications on the track and deal
a killing blow to that old track time or make a new track time if
you've never been to the raceway!
This summer has been packed full of events for our club and we
have pictures to capture the fond memories. We started off with
a Show 'N Shine in which there were many contestants who wheeled
in their detailed rides that sparkled like the stars they were.
Our very own officers were judges for the event and handed out prizes
for our top three competitors. Later in the month we took to the
roads for our annual kick-off cruise to from Saratoga's scenic Highway
9 and onto Highway 1, with Rock 'N Robs as our destination in Pacifica.
The owners at Rock 'N Robs graciously let us display our cars right
in front of the restaurant! See the pictures below.

Congrats to the 2005 Corvette C6 known as "Deep Blue C6"
and his pilot, Jason Medina for winning July's COTM award. Over the
past year, Jason has worked on and pretty much completed his Project
Deep Blue. Every project takes time as well as money and both show
a commitment to these cars. Also, Jasons attendance is impeccable
with every event the club has. He does an excellent job as club photographer
as well as forum administrator.
We would like to congratulate David and his Torrid GTO as June's COTM.
He has been a great member to the club. Even with a busy schedule,
he and Brenda try to make as many meets and events as possible. Over
the past few months he's upgraded his goat with: exhaust, wheels,
audio, and recently some suspension mods too! David and Brenda are
really good folks to have around and we're proud to have the GTO as
this month's COTM.
Noah has been with WCGMP since day one being one of the founding members
of the club. Through out the years Noah has always been active within
the club making as many events as possible and has always brought
a positive attitude and car knowledge with him. Even when he lost
his previous Camaro to a wreck he continued to show his commitment
to GM Performance and stepped it up with replacing his V6 Camaro with
a Z28. WCGMP would like to thank Noah for his commitment to the club
and wish him best of luck with his Z28.
WCGMP is pleased to announce, Melissa and her car deemed The
Blue Ghost, as our car of the month for April. While Melissa
is one of our newer members to join she had been active with the club
long before she joined.
Since becoming a member she has wasted no time building up her
2002 SS. After adding AS Stage II 241 Heads, an ECS Cam, a 150 shot
Wet Nitrous Kit, and a plethora of other goodies its no wonder her
car now sits on top of WCGMPs dyno list putting down an amazing
532 RWHP and 508 RWTQ
This spyshot was taken from GM Inside News. It looks to share the
same bodystyle as the upcoming Pontiac G8. Oddly enough the car
was seen driving in open daylight in Detroit with out and maskings
at all. Could this be the surprise rear wheel dive sedan that Chevrolet
has been keeping hush hush? This is probably the best looking "Lumina"
I have seen. It's also interesting to see the SS badge on the car
despite the rumor to re-invent the Super Sport meaning.
The Transformers press release
was introduced to us 2 years ago at the San Diego Comic Con and made
it's way to audiences world-wide on July 4th. The movie stars GMs
biggest and brightest Autobots as well as the future Camaro! A little
known fact about the Concept Camaro is that the Movie version actually
used a later model GTO 's chasis and the 1970's second generation
Camaros (3) were purchased for under $8k. The film costed $150 million
to make and on it's second week has already made a astounding $233,700,00!
I don't think GM could be happier with the press this movie has brought
about as well as revisting our childhoods.
