For WCGMP's May event, we
have decided to particpate in one of the Bay Area's biggest car shows.
I know the name makes the event sound a bit oddball but I think this
will be a great event. With an awesome view, lots of cars, and only
a $10 gate fee this will give everyone a chance to show off their
car for such a low price and on an awesome stage. Even though the
gates open at 8:00 we can meet in San Jose at 8:00 and then head off
by 8:30. If some of our fellow north bay members are going to
make this we can make another final meet spot close to Canada College
so we can all roll up together. Listed below is a small synopsis
of the event and should answer most questions on this event.
Building on the momentum of last year when we had 850+ cars, Friendship
Day remains one of Northern Californias biggest, friendliest,
and happiest collector car events. The $10 entry fee per car includes
a magnetic dash plaque plus free donuts and coffee as long as they
last. No judging, no awards, no vendors, no preregistration. Just
pay at the gate, park your car and walk and talk. See the incredible
breadth of the old car hobbyantiques, classics, special interest,
trucks, sports, muscle, rods, campers, etc. Austins Texas
BBQ will prepare lunch of hot dog, hamburger or veggie burger with
chips and drink for only $5.

Time: Meet at Monthly Meet Spot (Cambrian Plaza) at 8:00 AM
As part of a continuing effort to have WCGMP help out in the community,
it's my pleasure to announce the River Clean Up event. This event
involves volunteering 3 hours of your time to help clean up our
local rivers and reservoir. The location that was assigned to WCGMP
was Almaden lake. Further instructions will be provided during the
actual event. A special thanks goes to Elma for finding this non
profit orginization that is always looking for support to help with
their worthy cause.
This May Meet WCGMP unveiled the new Club Promotion Banner. This
new banner will be present at our monthly events, special events
and parties. We will also be using the banner for a special picture
day event for our official members in the upcoming future.
WCGMP would like to thank JC Fung and Lee Andersen for producing
the banner and support frame. A special thank you goes out to our
official members for making this possible.
Winner of the Zaino Detailing Raffle: Chris Cozzo!
During the May Meet dinner we held the drawing for Immacualte Reflections
Zaino detiling service. Our very own Jeff McGoveran was our honored
selector of the winning ticket! A special thanks goes out to Jeff
McGoveran for being a great friend, member and service to our club.
The detailing service retails for up to $200 for the stunning work
and oh what a prize it is!
Thank you to everyone who participated in the raffle fundraiser
to help us keep the club running smoothly, partake in special events
and bring value back to the members of our club.

to ask questions about their car or modifications. Each link is

website, show friends or family. Use it as a reference when you
cant remember all the great things you've done for your car.
It's like an on-line virtual "baseball card" with your
car stats.
Congratulations to Antonio Reid and his Phantom Black 2004 GTO for
being May's Car of the Month! His power modifications so far
are muffler and resonator delete. He's been thinking about adding
long tube headers, but for now is looking to improve the car's appearance.
He's in line to receive a set of '06 GTO tail lights which should
further set his already beautiful car apart.
With the Goat about to go
bye-bye again, Pontiac needed to cough up another car for its championship
drifter Ryhs Millen to pilot in this years Formula D circuit.
Fortunately the 2007 Pontiac GXP makes a perfect choice thanks to
its RWD layout and potent 2.0L ECOTEC engine. The ECOTEC four-cylinder
has been pumped up to over 1,400 hp in drag racing applications, so
the fact that it will provide Millens right foot with 500 hp
is no surprise. And the darn thing runs on E85!
An alert member of the Solstice
Forum attended the March Madness/Final Four Pontiac demofest at the
Indianapolis Motor Speedway last Sunday, and got a brief glimpse of
the newest offspring of the GM Performance parts bin - a Pontiac Solstice
racer!
The car appears to be outfitted for SCCA Showroom Stock 'B' racing
(basically a stock car with minimal modifications allowed) and features
a nice little add-on hardtop.
The dust has barely settled
from the debut of Saturn's Sky roadster, and Saturn is already unveiling
a high-performance variant. The big news is under the hood, where
the Red Line model gets the Ecotec turbocharged direct-injection engine,
good for an inspiring 260 hp at 5300 rpm and 260 ft-lb of torque at
2500 rpm. At 2.1 hp per cubic inch of displacement, the turbo Ecotec
sets a General Motors record for specific output.
The Red Line will grace your local Saturn dealer's showroom this
fall.
